A trip to Pistoia is a must, in every street in its ancient centre you can find churches, arches, bell towers, baptistries, forts, black and green striped marble buildings, arched windows, terracotta, statues... art. Pistoia is not only a city rich with art, in the Piazza del Mercato you will find traditional shops and all the smells and flavours of an outdoor fruit and vegetable market, as well as local products and typical dishes such as "il neccio", "il biroldo", "la cioncia", "i roventini"...

Music, street acts till late at night, famous guests from all over the world, antique markets, concerts with international stars, all this and more is Pistoia in July when the city is completely transformed, culminating in the Pistoia Blues Festival wich attracts thousands of people.
In Palazzo Fabroni dating back to 1700 there are modern art exhibitions with artists such as Fernando Melani, Gianni Ruffi, Umberto Buscioni, Luciano Fabro, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Jannie Kounellis and Roberto Barni.
Or a night at Manzoni Theatre in Pistoia.....a special way to get closer reality and stars from the contemporary Theater.
Don’t miss the festival of the patron saint of Pistoia on 25 July with processione and the joust of the bear.
For the eternal romantic
What about a pre-dinner drink at sunset in the central square of Montecatini Alto, you can get there by funicular and walk through the medieval towers to enjoy a splendid panoramic sunset.
Then there is Monsummano Alto, with it’s beautiful roman church, Montevettolini a medieval village, which since 1200 was home to the noble families of Florence. Their traces still remain at the Villa Medici dei Principi Borghese.
For nature lovers
Excursion on foot, by bike, by horse or even with skis. There is a wide choice, from the hills of Montalbano to the mountains of Abetone, passing through all the little mountain villages that still conserve and live the rural and farming traditions. Here you can find village festivals and museums at Cutigliano, San Marcello, San Mommè and Pracchia. These are good starting points to discover the beauty of the Tuscan Apennines.
If all this isn’t enough, there is always the classical Tuscan Itineries just a few kilometres away, Florence, Siena, Chianti, Pisa, Lucca, Versilia, San Gimignano and Volterra.
